It's 1976, and the long, hot summer has been exposing archaeological anomalies all over Britain. When archaeologist Eoghan Bren is approached by his ex, Sam, he never expects to be drawn into a dig at a deserted medieval village. But this is her dying father's obsession, and he's desperate to know what destroyed Threfield Percy.

At the heart of this fourteenth century mystery is Christiane Bren, daughter of a Welsh rebel and lady of the manor. As Eoghan pieces her tale together, he's drawn ever deeper into her time. But sparks are also flying again between him and Sam. As the Black Death threatens Christiane's world, can Eoghan uncover the answers they all need, and can Sam save him from himself?
